Before training as a furniture maker at the Williams & Cleal Furniture School in Somerset, I previously worked for the Civil Service in London, taking redundancy after over twenty years in IT. Having developed a passion for woodworking in evening classes (initially with the intention of making a wooden surfboard), I decided to grasp the opportunity to combine this passion with my love of the West Country.

I take my inspiration from the Arts and Crafts movement and firmly believe in honesty of construction in harmony with the natural beauty of our native wood. I strive to create visually simple, well-proportioned furniture, handcrafted to the highest levels where no decoration or ornamentation is required.

Function is key to my design principles and I seek to achieve inherent simplicity and integrity in my furniture with an acute attention to proportions, materials and craftsmanship.
